Phantasy Star Portable for PSP Sold Out on the First Day

Written by Goldenming on August 8th, 2008

The latest Phantasy Star game for the PSP has been release in Japan, and almost sold out in Akihabara! according to akibaBlog, 90+% sold on the 1st day of sale in Japan.

According to GameWatch, “the first PSP version of the RPG ‘Phantasy Star’ series. The story is episode 1 & 2 of Phantasy Star Universe, and players clear up a mystery of ‘SEED remaining to stay behind’ as an inexperienced guardian with a partner Vivienne, a trial cast.” Dengeki Online wrote: “there are 2 kinds of modes. One is the ’street mode’ - a player enjoys magnificent adventure by him/herself, and another mode is the ‘multi mode’ - maximum of 4 people can play together. If a player uses PSP infrastructure mode, he/she can receive different kinds of ‘network service.”

Multi-player RPG type of games such as Phantasy Star Portable and Monster Hunter Portable sold like hotcakes in Japan. It looks like Japanese PSP is rising and beaten Nintendo DS, the competitor in terms of hardware sales.
